How To Avoid Being Cited At A DUI Checkpoint

First of all you should never drink and drive, or drive while under the influence of illegal drugs or even legal ones that can make you drowsy. Always have a designated driver available to take you where you need to go if you plan on drinking. During the holiday season many people have get togethers and parties that are fun to go to and there more than likely will be alcohol served. Even if you have just a couple of drinks you should not get behind the wheel. Not only for the obvious reason of public safety but because there are going to be law enforcement officials out in full force this time of year looking for drunk drivers. You can avoid having many big problems by letting someone drive who has not had a drink. Also if you are a designated driver or just have not been drinking you still need to make sure you have a valid vehicle registration and proof of auto insurance in your vehicle because there is still a chance that you may be pulled over since there are going to be more Police Officers out on the streets.

Consequences of Getting A DUI Conviction

If you are convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs you may be arrested, have your car impounded and lose your driving privilege. This can be followed by being ordered to attend DUI classes and paying hefty fines which can add up to thousands of dollars. Also you may be required to get an SR22 insurance policy to be able to get your license back and drive legally. The point is that you should avoid being cited at all by being smart and having a friend or relative who is completely sober drive you home or to your next destination. Christmas parties are fun and can be even more enjoyable when you act responsibly and plan ahead to avoid a disastrous night.
